Our customers have an ongoing need to create new features and functions in our platform to deliver the strategic objectives of their business. The Product team is responsible for collecting requirements from the customer and, with a rich and deep understanding of the customer’s business, our technology, the underlying architecture and the needs of the other customers, define excellent solutions in high quality specifications.

Summary of Role

The Junior Product Manager’s function is to support the Product Owner in the generation and documentation of solutions that deliver against the customer requirement. The purpose of the specification document is to unambiguously describe the new feature to be developed in a way that can be clearly understood by both the customer and the development team.

Our specifications are generated in Google Documents, and consist of narrative, notes to support testing and one or more features defined with user stories and scenarios written in BDD (Behaviour Driven Development).

Our development outcomes are heavily dependent on successful output from the Product team.

It is acknowledged that it will take several months to become capable and self-sufficient in this role and intuitive will provide the training and support throughout.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Requirement gathering
    • Questions and challenges the requirement from the customer
    • Agrees a narrative with the customer
  • Solution definition and ballparking
    • Works alone, or with Product Owner and/or the development team to define the solution approach
    • Works with the team to establish a ballpark cost for the customer
    • Communicates this to the customer
  • Specification generation
    • Produces high quality specifications with
      • Narrative
      • Well-defined features
      • User stories
      • Scenarios 
      • Test cases
  • Communication
    • Maintains dialogue, written and oral, with the customer as required
    • Works with the development team as required
    • Works with the QA resource during testing phase
    • Works with the training and support teams following initial go-live
  • Post-development queries
    • Responds to customer questions during the (customer) user acceptance processes
    • Can differentiate bugs and missed feature elements from additional feature requests
  • QA
    • Occasionally may be called upon to verify delivered functionality
  • Process
    •  Uses research and external learning, and any failures, to drive suggestions for process improvements

Key skills, Experience and Capabilities

  • Essential
      • Educated to degree level, 2:1 and above, in Computing, Science, Mathematics or Engineering 
      • Good A-level results, B and above
      • Strong analytical, numeracy and problem solving skills
  • Desirable
    • Familiar with iVector
    • Experience in the travel sector
    • Extremely intelligent
    • Very fast learner
    • Confident
    • Excellent problem solving capability
    • Impeccable writing skills
